Weirdly enough I just bought his short-story collection last week (christmas present for a relative). Can't say I liked the review though - I need to read more of his stuff (which Popmatters doesn't make easy), but he kind of reminded me of Chris Ott.
It's not his best, and I think what I like about it is the broad contextualizing. He goes beyond the "Lil' Jon is an idiot" approach, but has ready replies for those who say "But you have to like it, it bounces hard!"
The stuff that caught my attention was his review of the Wu-Tang Greatest Hits and the ODB obit.
PS - Let me know what the relative thinks of the stories. I'm going to grab it at some point, but I'm bogged down in books at the moment (big surprise).
