Russell Jones in The New Yorker

This week's New Yorker has a hilarious column about a different Russell Jones. A snippet:

"The conversations often unfolded this way:

"'Yo, Ol’ Dirty?'

"'No, this is not Ol’ Dirty, but you have reached Russell Jones.'

"'Oh, are you going to see him later?'"

Speaking of Old Dirt McGirt, Osiris, ampersand ampersand: I listened to the latest Wu release, a live set from 7/04, and I will admit that it is not bad at all. A great balance of solo and group stuff from the mid nineties to early oughties and certainly the best thing about the disk. The energy is high but lets face it: live hip-hop hardly ever fails to disappoint. Yeah I am including the Roots, the Mighty Mos, and all that in there too. They may play their own instruments but I can still count the GREAT hip-hop shows I have seen on a two fingers.
